The Assoziation of contemporary music "Ambitus" asked composers living in Vienna - Fritz Keil, Rudolf Hinterdorfer, Tomasz Skweres, Sylvie Lacroix - to write short compositions for string quartet, which refers to (and which are inspirated by) the 8th string quartet by Dmitri Shostakovich. The new compositions will by performed between the movements of Shostakovich´s work.
